you to the annual gala NYCESPA Welcome Back Professional Development evening
that will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29, starting at 5 p.m. at Russo’s
On the Bay, 16245 Cross Bay Blvd, Howard Beach, Queens.
This citywide event is our way of thanking you for your support in the
past and to afford you, our members, a chance to speak with one another
in an informal setting. Mark your calendars for an evening of professional
growth and collegiality.
Dr. Jamal A. Cooks, educational consultant, researcher, associate professor

Literacy and Culture: Making it Happen for All. Dr. Cooks

He uses hip-hop music and movies, among other popular culture offerings,
to reach students and form a bridge to a classroom’s curriculum.
Dr. Cooks' culturally relevant approach has been used in classrooms across
the country.
Dr. Cooks is known both for the content of his lectures as well as his
presentation skills. Following his talk, you are invited to enjoy a full
three-course dinner featuring the renowned Russo’s cuisine.
